Thor: Lesson One, How to Leash Break a Puppy

The next step to on leash obedience is leash breaking the dog.  It is where I will pick up the leash and begin to be a little more authoritative in my “follow me” approach.  This is the first official leash lesson for my German Shepherd puppy and in this video, I will show you how to build on the foundation laid through the “luring” and use it to get your dog to willfully and happily follow you on a leash.  We start with movement.  As you are successful in getting the dog to not pull on your leash you will notice the dog becomes more aware of you and where you are and less aware of other things.  What happens through this game of “follow the leader” is your puppy will learn that listening and following is SO MUCH easier than trying to do things their own way. We will continue to work on good day to day manners (like not jumping, crate training and coming when called) and socialization too!  Keep watching to learn how to make your new puppy all they can be!
